Still in Jerash.

Our next stop was Jerash an ancient city in Jordan. A few of the boys ran a little race, then we walked through some of the ruins and ended up in a theater. After about two minutes...I don't know if you would call them a band or not...but this group of 5 men came in and started playing the bag pipes. It was really funny at first because we were in Jordan....but they were quite the performers and played several songs.

And on the way out of Petra...why not ride a horse? Minna and I rode 3 different animals for a grand total of 9 dollars that day. It was great. The middle picture is the beginnings of a fig tree...the figs appear before the leaves. And the top picture is one of my people pictures. I think that my people pictures are some of my very favorite pictures that I have taken while I've been here.

More Petra...after we walked down and had lunch, Minna (my roommate) and I decided that we wanted to ride the camels....so we did! Now we just need to ride one in Israel and we will have ridden them in 3 countries.

More in Petra. The bottom picture is a monistery that's 900 steps and a good hike above the rest of it all.... Or you can ride a donkey for 3 dollars to the top. It was an amazing ride and super fun.

A few pictures on the way into Petra.

I took the top picture on Mount Nebo where Moses was able to see the promised land with the symbol of the serpent. The second picture is Machaerus where John the Baptist was beheaded. And the last picture is the first stone carving we saw as we walked into see Petra.
